Finding the Right Forex Broker

Forex trading is dealt through a broker, trader or bank. It works through electronic communication as forex trading has no central office or land based address. It is therefore, necessary to find a competent broker to deal with when investing in forex trading. The forex broker is the bridge between the buyers and sellers.

Forex brokers are usually associated with a bank of FX trading company or now more commonly online websites. It isn’t difficult to find a forex broker but what does matter is the kind of broker you choose for your forex trade. Look at your broker’s credentials. It is important to know his past experiences and qualifications as a broker.

A qualified broker is required to register with the Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) and synchronized by Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Never transact with a broker who doesn’t have an affiliation with the mentioned trading commission. Research thoroughly, making sure to conduct a background check on the broker you choose. Check on the broker’s current working status and ask for references or client feedback. Knowing the history of your broker is vital since this will be the basis whether or not you should deal with him. Remember you are entrusting your money to your broker so trust is everything.

You will want to have a broker who is highly knowledgeable in all areas of Forex. Find out your broker’s working style. Ask his views about risk management tools and trading analysis. If your broker doesn’t like the idea of using dummy accounts then you should reconsider. Also there are many forex terms and trading tools, it is good to know if your broker has a complete understanding of these things. The last thing you want is a broker who cannot address your queries or concerns when trading in the forex market.

Attitude and character is everything in the forex environment. Find a broker who is cool headed and approachable. It is best to work with someone who is has self composure even under pressure. You need a broker who is optimistic at all times and can work with you even through the difficult times. Face it, you won’t always win in forex but it is comforting to have a broker you can trust and who can assure you that things will get better. Finding a broker who is calm is better as this will prevent you from panicking even when things aren’t going so well.

The best broker is the one who will make you grateful that you decided to engage in forex trading.

“If your broker doesn’t like the idea of using dummy accounts then you should reconsider.”

I’m not going to reveal an online broker I spoke with but one of them scoffed at my request of a demo account. “Those are for newbies!” I was rather insulted. I expect he thinks that I am not adventurous enough??

Regulated forex broker is definitely more reliable. At least you will have somewhere to complain if things go bad!
